Mr Lai Hock Meng

Mr Lai Hock Meng is the Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Director of the Manager.

Mr Lai spent more than 30 years in the financial industry including central banking, investment banking, private banking, stockbroking and venture capital. He has extensive experience and expertise in corporate finance and corporate investment across East and South-East Asia. Prior to joining the Manager, he was the Chairman and Chief Advisor of HML Consulting Group, which provides corporate governance, investment management and family wealth advisory services across China and South East Asia to listed corporations, private equity funds, family foundations and non-profit organisations.

Mr Lai was formerly the Managing Director of Morgan Grenfell & Asia Partners Securities and the Managing Director of SocGen Crosby Securities. He was also a senior private banker with the Citigroup Private Bank and Regional Market Manager in OCBC Private Bank. Mr Lai was non-executive director of Senoko Power Ltd and City Gas Private Ltd, and chaired the audit committee of the then Temasek-linked companies during the periods from 2001 to 2005 and 2002 to 2006 respectively.

Mr Lai has a wealth of experience in initial public offerings, corporate restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Over the past 15 years, he has sat on the boards of 19 public companies listed on the exchanges in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Mr Lai also accumulated extensive experience in investment mangement over the past 15 years as former Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, former Managing Director of Tembusu Partners Pte Ltd, and currently as director of the Char Yong Foundation and Champ Buyout III Pte Ltd.

Mr Lai holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Economics and a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge in England. He is also a CFA charterholder from the CFA Institute, United States of America.

Mr Alvin Cheng Yu-Dong

Mr Alvin Cheng is an Executive Director and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Manager.

Mr Cheng brings over 30 years of experience in corporate finance and REIT management and his expertise spans across equity investments, asset finance, mergers and acquisitions, and REIT and business trust management. Mr. Cheng has held a number of senior management positions over the past decade.

Until May 2016, Mr. Cheng was the Executive Director and CEO of LMIRT Management Ltd (the manager of Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust), having joined as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) in July 2010 and appointed to its board of directors in April 2013. Prior to that, he was the Executive Director and CEO of PST Management Pte. Ltd. (the trustee manager of Pacific Shipping Trust) from April 2008 to November 2009.

Mr. Cheng was a member of APL Logistics’ global management team where he was responsible for financial management, strategic business planning and mergers and acquisitions from 2006 to 2008, after he was based in Shanghai for APL and APL Logistics as the Director of Business Development for the Greater China region from 2002 to 2006.

During his earlier career in the financial sector, Mr. Cheng has held several senior regional roles within Chemical Bank (predecessor to JP Morgan Chase), Rabobank, and GE Capital.

Mr Cheng holds dual Master of Science degrees in Ocean Systems Management and in Ocean Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), and a B.Sc. (Honors) degree in from Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (UK).

Mr Goh Toh Sim

President, Investment and Asset Management

Mr Goh Toh Sim is an Executive Director and President of Investment & Asset Management of the Manager.

Mr Goh has over 20 years of experience in the management of industrial parks, real estate development and business management in China. Prior to joining the Manager, he was the Chief Representative in China for Keppel Corporation Limited where he was responsible for government relations and business development. Prior to joining Keppel Corporation and from July 2006 to November 2009, Mr Goh was the chief executive officer of Evergro Properties Limited, a real estate developer in Tianjin, Jiangyin and Changzhou, where he was responsible for the general management of the company, including setting of strategies, land and project acquisitions and property development.

Mr Goh also served as the CEO of Ascendas (China) Pte Ltd from January 2004 to June 2006, where he was responsible for developing and managing Ascendas' businesses in China. He initiated the development of Ascendas' businesses in several cities in China including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Dalian, Xian, and Nanjing. From August 1994 to December 2003, he was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Group Co., Ltd. (formerly known as China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd.) where he was responsible for infrastructure development, finance and government relations.

Mr Goh holds a Diplôme d' Ingénieur (French engineering degree which is equivalent to a Master's degree) in Telecommunications from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications, Paris, France, and a Master of Business Administration from Insead, Fontainebleau, France.

Mr Johnnie Tng Chin Hwee

Mr. Johnnie Tng Chin Hwee joined EC World REIT as its Chief Financial Officer on 1 Jan 2017. He has more than 25 years of wide-ranging financial experience where he has held various senior finance roles. Mr. Tng’s early career was with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, SBC Warburg and Nomura. Thereafter, he held senior management positions in SilkRoute Holdings and Freight Link Express Holdings (following a takeover of the listed company). He then joined RGM International, a resource-based Indonesian conglomerate, as Vice President of Corporate Finance, where, among others, he oversaw several global mergers and acquisitions and fund-raising for the construction of a refining plant in China. In 2006, he joined Ascendas where he was concurrently the CFO of Ascendas India, Ascendas India Trust and Ascendas India Funds. He played an instrumental role in the successful listing of Ascendas India Trust on the SGX-ST and managed all the fund raising exercises of the trust/funds. He later held Group CFO positions at Keppel REIT and Ying Li International Real Estate.

Mr. Tng holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree (Honours) from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
